Everything you need to know before getting started with Zivlo.
What You'll Need
At Least 2 Mobile Smartphones
One for the protected person (e.g. Granny) and one for the guardian (e.g. her daughter). If there is more than one guardian — say a son as well — each additional guardian will also need their own mobile smartphone. The protected person will need a mobile smartphone and be comfortable answering calls on it.
Apple, Android, or a Mix of Both
It doesn’t matter which type of phone anyone has. The protected person and each guardian can use an iPhone, an Android phone, or any combination of the two.
Landline or Mobile Which Can Be Forwarded
Both landline and mobile phone lines can be forwarded to a Zivlo 0330 number for monitoring by the Guardians. 0330 numbers are regulated by Ofcom to be "local rate" or cheaper, regardless of where in the UK you are calling from. Please check with the protected person’s (eg Granny) phone company that they allow call forwarding or call divert. Most PAYG mobile contracts do not allow this. Zivlo will not work without this. There may be a charge from your phone company to forward calls.
A Data Connection Is Required
All smartphones need a data connection, either through Wi-Fi or through a cellular network. This is how the guardian app receives notifications and streams call audio.
Outgoing Calls Are Not Affected
Only incoming calls are forwarded to Zivlo. Outgoing calls from the landline or mobile phones work in exactly the same way they always have — nothing changes.
How the Monitoring Works
Guardians Do the Monitoring — Not Us
There is no monitoring by Zivlo. When a call comes through to Granny, her daughter or son is notified instantly. They can then listen to the call in real time.
End Suspicious Calls Instantly
If a guardian thinks the call is suspicious, they can end it immediately with a single tap — protecting Granny before any harm is done.
Full Transparency for Everyone
Both the caller and the protected person are told that the call is being monitored. This alone is often enough to deter scammers.
